training has given me confidence and motivation to achieve my ultimate goal

Thanks to pat for starting me on my running journey. In only 2 weeks I can run 2.5 laps of the running track and all the interval training has given me confidence and motivation to achieve my ultimate goal which is to run the Great North Run. Also an added bonus of 7lb weight loss, Thanks Pat you’re a star.

if you are thinking of joining Pat’s Running Club ‘JUST DO IT’ It is the best decision I made

All I can say is if you are thinking of joining Pat’s Running Club ‘JUST DO IT’ It is the best decision I made as I was made to feel so welcome from the first day I walked through the door. We all have our reasons for why we started to run. For some of us, it’s the personal challenge of trying to accomplish a goal as seemingly impossible as completing a chosen race, whether it be as small scale as a local 5k or as large scale as a marathon. For some of us, the motivation to run stems from a desire to get healthy – to change our bad personal habits and maybe set an example for our kids. For others, there is a simple element of vanity – we’re unhappy with the possibly overweight person we see staring back at us in the mirror, and we feel the need to do something serious about it. Since joining Pat’s Running Club I feel fitter, healthier, and slimmer giving me more confidence.

Feel very welcome and part of the group

I had tried running before, but found it hard on my own. I got talking to Pat while volunteering at the South Shields park- run and was terrified at the prospect of joining a running club as I wasn’t a runner! Pat’s friendliness and encouragement soon made me feel very welcome and part of the group. I couldn’t do a lap of the track without stopping when I started, but completed my first park-run a few weeks after that in 39:20 and my current PB is 30:59, a massive improvement! I also just completed my first 10k and was thrilled to run the whole way, hills and all, and come in (just) under 1 hour 10 minutes. I love the buzz from running and the social aspect of the group. Next stop, the Great North Run (something I never thought I’d say)!
