Helping Homeless Women - North East

Welcome to my project to help homeless women in the North East of England. The project helps homeless women and vulnerable women in short term accommodation by collecting sanitary products, making period care packs and distributing them to charity hostels and safe houses in the local area.

The idea to start the project was because I found out that sanitary products are classed as luxury items and taxed 5% unlike condoms which are classed as basic essential items, are tax free and offered free on the NHS. Homeless women can't afford to buy them and are often too embarrassed to ask for them so they have no choice but to use whatever they can get their hands on, newspaper, tissues, toilet paper or nothing. This is unecceptable for any woman to be in that position. I run campaigns asking for donations to support the project to keep it running to help these women.

Together we can make a difference to the lives of homeless people in the area.
